Ten years of midwifery.
Now building on the Power Platform.
I’m a Microsoft Certified Trainer and Dynamics 365 / Power Platform developer based in the UK. The skills that made me a good midwife – calm under pressure, careful documentation, listening hard – turn out to be the same skills that make good software.

A career rooted in people, rebuilt around platforms.
For almost ten years I worked as an NHS midwife – long shifts, complex decisions, and a deep belief that good systems make people’s lives easier. That belief never left me, even as the job pushed me toward burnout.
In 2023 I joined the Code First Girls degree programme and stepped into tech as a Dynamics 365 Developer. The pattern recognition, the empathy, the calm under pressure – it all transferred. So did the obsession with making sure nothing slipped through the cracks.
Today I build on the Power Platform, mentor apprentices, deliver training, and work as a Microsoft Certified Trainer. Through Heather Ami Digital I help other people make the same kind of jump – out of healthcare, education, retail, anywhere – into a tech career that actually fits their life.
I’m a passionate women-in-tech advocate. I was a Code First Girls ambassador across 2024 & 2025, and I continue to work with CFG as an interview and technical coach. I graduated the CFGdegree with distinction in Autumn 2023 – you can read about my midwifery-to-tech journey on the CFG blog.

Heather's mentoring helped me reframe my NHS experience as a real asset. I landed my first dev role within four months.
The training session was the clearest intro to Power Automate our team has had. People actually built things by the end of it.
Calm, practical, and incredibly generous with her time. I went into my interview feeling prepared instead of panicked.
